Good storytelling strengthens social movements
USA - This is my story of resistance
My name is Giovanni Navarro, I am 18 years of age, and my story of resistance began when I was only 13 years old. When my sister and I were brought to the United States from Tijuana, Mexico back in 1998, we were taken in by the family of my stepfather who in that time was married with my biological mother. There I lived with the family who consistently used us as servants or maids. Even though I was given a home to live in, and food to eat, I lacked love and understanding. France - They resist because they let people dream
An atypical & non analytical act of resistance – maybe that’s why it is so powerful.
It’s about the French theatre group: Royal De Luxe. Just check these site: http://www.zonelibre44.free.fr/royal_de_luxe.htm (it’s french, sorry, but they don’t have an official website) – or watch these video to catch a bit of the magic: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XXOOFhKF9qM&feature=related - there is also a dvd about them: http://www.shellac-altern.org/Royal_de_luxe.html.
In my point of view - they resist because they let people dream – they are critical about our society but without moralizing – I think these acts of resistance are just as important as the more intellectual and analytical.
