Good storytelling strengthens social movements
Over the weekend we met with the incredibly inspiring writer, John Berger. We spent the afternoon talking about how prison walls traditionally were built to keep people in, but now walls are being built around countries and economic zones to keep the poor and the displaced out. All those who are incarcerated by the neoliberal system (which he calls Economic Fascism) are the new prisoners - the workers and the displaced. It is only after we name the system for what it really is, that he believes we can really start seeing the possible alternatives, to start learning from the counter strategies taking place at a local level. You can watch John reading a passage about identity cards in Palestine in the Conversations section of the website.
